Profile: A creature of the dense forces of Jatala, Aranha is rare among arthropods in being quite clearly intelligent, though she is incapable of speech, at least in the auditory way of humanoids. At times, the Jatalans have attempted to tame members of her species, but they are so dangerous, so intelligent, and so irritable that it has proven impossible.

At times, however, one of these fearsome spiders will make a deal to perform some service in exchange for food and protection of its spawn. Their prowess in battle is perhaps less important, however, than their ability to span the battlefield with protective webs, making it harder for an enemy to carry an attack to conclusion.
